A must have

The New Baby series is incredible!
I love the multiracial families and the scenes in the book actually show everyday life. The 2nd book even shows breastfeeding (thank you!!!).
I don't use the text so much as the pictures to tell my son a story. Honestly, my husband really struggles with this idea, so I get where some people would find it difficult.
I simply focus on what I want my son to know to get ready for life with a sibling. We named the toddlers in each book and I can ask questions about what my son sees in the picture or I can tell him a "story". For example "Sam" (what we named the kid in the 2nd book)is sitting on his mommy's lap with the baby for a picture. I might mention that Sam's mommy can hold Sam and the baby at the same time, for a quick cuddle. Or that Sam can walk holding daddy's hand while baby has to be carried because baby can't walk yet. But Sam can! What a big boy Sam is! Or that Sam is smiling as he's helping his mommy give the baby a bath. Sam must really like helping!
You do have to be creative, but these can be AMAZING tools to help your toddler understand what is coming up. I honestly had NOO idea how to explain breastfeeding to my son ahead of time, but with the book it's easy to simply point to the picture and tell him baby drinks mommy's milk just like he used to do before he learned how to eat sandwiches and apples and drink juice. Babies need to drink a lot of milk so they can grow. EASSYYYY!!! Love, love, love these books!

Held her attention longer than her other books!

My daughter loves this series! She's 17 months and we've been reading these together with her to get ready to have another baby. I love how there's very little text to encourage more talking about the pictures, my daughter personally doesn't like her books that have a lot of words to read, it doesn't hold her attention as well at this stage. I call the older child in the books by my daughter's name when we're reading and then ask her where the baby is. She points to it every time! (Except the Waiting for Baby book, she doesn't really understand yet that there's a baby in Mommy's tummy) The illustrations are very beautifully done, and I also love how the baby is nursing since my daughter is too, it's easier to talk about how she might have to share when baby comes. Would definitely recommend the entire series for a big sibling to be!

Bought all 4 of these books to help a 2 year old grandson prepare for a new sibling! GREAT BOOKS!! He loved the pages that covered things he does, and they introduced the concept of "baby" and what the baby would bring to his life. Love that the books are multicultural and gender neutral too!

Credible portrayal of people coping with the harsh realities of life

"Return to Sender" may focus on the plight of migrant workers, but it is also more than that. Tyler Paquette is grieving the loss of his beloved grandfather, and to top it off, his father is recovering from a horrific accident, one which has left him incapable of running the family farm on his own. Tyler fears losing his family farm and the way of life that is so important to him. Then he discovers that his parents have hired new migrant workers from Mexico (by way of North Carolina), and he wonders why his parents are being so secretive, telling him not to tell his friends and classmates about the new workers. Later, Tyler finds out that these workers are undocumented, and feels conflicted - why would his parents risk so much to hire these people? What if they get into trouble for harboring illegal immigrants? Yet Tyler realizes this may be the only option available to his parents in order to keep the farm going, and the migrant workers appear to be decent, hardworking folk.

Tyler also finds that the eldest daughter of the migrant family, i.e. Mari, is about his age and shares a common interest in astronomy. Over time, Tyler comes to care about Mari, her two younger sisters and the others, and does not wish to see them deported. However, others in the community are not so benevolent and are bent on seeing these migrants sent back to Mexico. Mari, meanwhile, struggles with her own conflicts - her mother has been missing for a while, and as the days pass by, the family's hopes of seeing Mama grow dim.

There is no real happy ending in this story, so it does credibly address some of the real issues having to do with the uncertain life of migrant workers, who literally live from day to day in the hopes that la migra will not arrest them and send them back to a life of poverty, with no means of supporting their families. There is an obvious political message here, but I felt it was well-integrated into the story without a happily ever after ending that would have diluted the story's message. The reality in today's United States is that there are many immigrant students in school without legal status, and it is time that other students, both citizens and legal aliens learn to understand how their peers might feel, living in constant fear. Adds perspective to immigration issues

I read this book to help improve my Spanish language skills as a non-native speaker. It was very helpful in this regard. I'd probably rate the book at an intermediate level. The story was interesting even for this middle-aged adult. As a surprise, though, I became more aware of the very human issues of immigration versus the political headlines we see on TV news - a worthwhile read indeed.

Many tests, "the answer key's" are excellent!

I used Delata's Advanced Skill for TOEFL ibt first, and then use this one.
This book has many tests which are excellent and enough for the TOEFL bit.
It is better to use Advanced Skill first.
Before I use this book, I used Princeton's, Barron's and Mastering skills'.
However, I could not choose the right answer because I always consider about two out of four answers,
and I couldn't understand why it becomes this one answer when I used the other books.
Surprisingly, after I use Delta's, I could completely understand it.
"The Answer Key" of these books are precise and well explained.
I strongly recommend this to all non-native English speakers.
After I have done these two books, I can clear more than 100 scores!
I appreciate the author of these books very much.

I really like this book. And shows how the test will look like and also the level of diffulty is similar to the test. I got 106/120 points at the TOEFL ibt

Very Disappointing !!

Very Disappointing !!
I bought this used book thinking that there would be minor writings but the whole book has been marked .The answers have been checked.I was stilll Ok with that.But the most annoying thing was MISSING ANSWER KEY PAGES.They have been completely torn out from the book.So here i am ,delayed with my preparation for the TOEFL test !I am surely returning the book,what good is it without answers.

Spectacular office architecture - excellent selection

You can say that this book lists the world's 100 best office buildings which were completed in 2012 or 2013. The book's overview about current office architecture is overwhelming. Among the chosen architects are, of course and rightly, the usual suspects as Foster + Partners, Zaha Hadid, Renzo Piano, Richard Meier or Baumschlager Eberle but also young architects and architects which are not (yet) well-known. The book documents a broad range of styles, including classic functionalism, minimalism, organic architecture, natural aesthetics, deconstructivism or pop-art renaissance. In any case, it shows impressive creativity and the future of office work as well as corporate architecture.
The buildings are from all continents and usually shown on four pages, with exterior and interior photographs, floor plans and short descriptions. The book's quality is outstanding.
