About the Author

Tracie L. Miller-Nobles

Tracie L. Miller-Nobles, CPA, received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting from Texas A&M University and is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in adult learning also at Texas A&M University. She is an Associate Professor at Austin Community College, Austin, TX. Previously she served as a Senior Lecturer at Texas State University, San Marcos, TX, and has served as department chair of the Accounting, Business, Computer Information Systems, and Marketing/Management department at Aims Community College, Greeley, CO. In addition, Tracie has taught as an adjunct professor at University of Texas and has public accounting experience with Deloitte Tax LLP and Sample & Bailey, CPAs.

 

Tracie is a recipient of the Texas Society of CPAs Rising Star Award, TSCPAs Outstanding Accounting Educator Award, NISOD Teaching Excellence Award and the Aims Community College Excellence in Teaching Award. She is a member of the Teachers of Accounting at Two Year Colleges, the American Accounting Association, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Texas State Society of Certified Public Accountants. She is currently serving on the Board of Directors as secretary/webmaster of Teachers of Accounting at Two Year Colleges, as a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants nominations committee, and as chair of the Texas Society of CPAs Relations with Education Institutions committee. In addition, Tracie served on the Commission on Accounting Higher Education: Pathways to a Profession.

 

Tracie has spoken on such topics as using technology in the classroom, motivating non-business majors to learn accounting, and incorporating active learning in the classroom at numerous conferences. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her friends and family and camping, kayaking, and quilting.

 

 

Brenda L. Mattison

Brenda L. Mattison has a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s degree in accounting, both from Clemson University. She is currently an Accounting Instructor at Tri-County Technical College in Pendleton, South Carolina. Brenda previously served as Accounting Program Coordinator at TCTC and has prior experience teaching accounting at Robeson Community College, Lumberton, North Carolina; University of South Carolina Upstate, Spartanburg, South Carolina; and Rasmussen Business College, Eagan, Minnesota. She also has accounting work experience in retail and manufacturing businesses.

 

Brenda is a member of Teachers of Accounting at Two Year Colleges and the American Accounting Association. She is currently serving on the board of directors as Vice President of Conference Administration of Teachers of Accounting at Two Year Colleges. 

 

Brenda previously served as Faculty Fellow at Tri-County Technical College. She has presented at several conferences on topics including active learning, course development, and student engagement. 

 

In her spare time, Brenda enjoys reading and spending time with her family. She is also an active volunteer in the community, serving her church and other organizations.

 

 

Ella Mae Matsumura

Ella Mae Matsumura, Ph.D. is a professor in the Department of Accounting and Information Systems in the School of Business at the University of Wisconsin—Madison, and is affiliated with the university’s Center for Quick Response Manufacturing. She received an A.B. in mathematics from the University of California, Berkeley, and M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of British Columbia. Ella Mae has won two teaching excellence awards at the University of Wisconsin—Madison and was elected as a lifetime fellow of the university’s Teaching Academy, formed to promote effective teaching. She is a member of the university team awarded an IBM Total Quality Management Partnership grant to develop curriculum for total quality management education.

 

Ella Mae was a co-winner of the 2010 Notable Contributions to Management Accounting Literature Award. She has served in numerous leadership positions in the American Accounting Association (AAA). She was coeditor of Accounting Horizons and has chaired and served on numerous AAA committees. She has been secretary-treasurer and president of the AAA’s Management Accounting Section. Her past and current research articles focus on decision making, performance evaluation, compensation, supply chain relationships, and sustainability. She coauthored a monograph on customer profitability analysis in credit unions.

Do NOT buy USED! Access codes for online platform will NOT work.

Does NOT include access code. Which really is what you need. Just get the textbook from your school library and copy the pages you need for class, then purchase the access code separate. From what I've heard from all my classmates, it's impossible to use the access code twice, so any USED book will not work. Any such advertisement, such as the book I purchased, is false advertising. The access code, if provided one, will not work if it is Used material.

Warning! This only has half the chapters!

Searching by ISBN for the paper back, then clicking digital edition, will only net you HALF the book.

The Financial Chapters = Chapters 1 - 17
The Managerial Chapters = Chapters 18 - 26
My Accounting Lab sold separately for digital rental/purchase.

I was 10,000 feet in the sky with no wifi when I discovered I only had chapter 18+.

This states, "Access Card Package" - it most certainly is NOT!!! After purchasing book for class, I find out there is NO access to the web site....now have to pay additional access - not happy about this. False advertising....

About the Author
Don Hallett obtained his B.Sc degree in geology from Durham University and his doctorate from University College London. He worked for Esso Exploration Inc. in UK, Morocco and Senegal, and as Area Exploration Manager for Sonatrach in Algeria. He then worked for BNOC on North Sea exploration and was Chief Geologist of its privatised successor Britoil. Dr Hallett then joined Sirte Oil Company and spent ten years in Libya, reaching the position of Exploration Superintendent. Since 1999 he has worked as a consultant, advising companies and conducting workshops in several countries, and producing the first edition of Petroleum Geology of Libya in 2002. In 2005 he became an associate of Nubian Consulting Ltd providing clients with evaluations and advice on Libyan opportunities. He was also joint author of a report on Libyan oil and gas reserves and an atlas of Libyan oil and gas fields.

About the Author
Gina Ankner, RN, MSN, ANP-BC, is senior nurse coordinator and program director for the Specialty Care in Pregnancy Program (SCIPP) in the Department of Medicine at Women & Infants Hospital of Rhode Island. The only program of its kind in the United States, SCIPP brings a multidisciplinary team together to consult on cases of women whose pregnancy, or plan for pregnancy, is complicated by a medical condition. She is also responsible for outreach and new program development for the Department of Medicine. Prior to her current position at Women & Infants Hospital, she taught medical-surgical nursing for ten years at the University Of Massachusetts Dartmouth College Of Nursing. Ankner earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in nursing from Boston College.

Book Does NOT Include Answers For Case Studies

I bought this book under the assumption that it included the answers (rationales) for the case studies; it does NOT. In order to get the answers, you need to purchase the teacher's edition. The teacher's edition is impossible to find and if you do find it, the seller is asking a crazy price for it. This book is almost useless to me. I wanted to be able to refresh myself since I haven't worked for 2 years and am looking into returning to the workforce.

This book has good case studies. BUT IT DOESN'T HAVE ANY ANSWERS OR EXPLANATIONS OR RATIONALS. TO GET THE ANSWERS OR RATIONALS YOU HAVE TO BUY THE INSTRUCTORS EDITION WHICH YOU OBVIOUSLY CAN'T GET. DON'T BUY !!! I returned mine for being written all over

Tonic

Much needed corrective to the overhyped and overblown theories about Blitzkrieg. As brilliant as the German operational plan was, Colonel Doughty does a remarkable job in showing that only hard fighting by well-trained infantry and engineers at the sharp end allowed the plan to bear fruit. A great cautionary script for anyone tempted to put all their eggs in either the maneuver or firepower baskets exclusively.

Get It!

Doughty knows considerably more about the workings of the French Army in 1940 than does the average historian and this knowledge is reflected in this work. Take your normal account of the fall of France, and then examine each significant event from the perspective of both the German and the French commands and then you will have some idea of what this work offers. I suggest that no serious student of WWII can do without this book. Stackpole's republishing it at a price that is actually within reason makes it even harder to resist.

Colonel Doughty has gone where no one has before; the company-size struggle for the Marfee Heights. While E. Store's 1PZ gives a good timeline and points of reference, Doughty describes each block- house. The French officers are named, either in their infamy or heroic efforts.
On a broader scale, Doughty compares doctrines. "Combat-activness" is examined as a motivator in small-level combat; the place that wars are really won.

I sure hope you order "The Monkey Box" and enjoy it. When I wrote my first book, East Side Dreams, I wondered what I was going to write next. I didn't know if people would enjoy reading about my family story. One day I started writing it as a love story. I really enjoyed it and kept right on going. Those who read "The Monkey Box" have let me know that they really enjoyed it. It is a very romantic story. Some can not believe for the tough guy that I am that I could write something so romantic, but I did! In "The Monkey Box" story, some of my great grandfather, Chico's thinking and feelings are what I feel inside. Also, many of my grandfather, Romulo's ways are my ways, not all though.

My grandfather, Romulo, died in 1937. Last year before I finalized "The Monkey Box", I went to Chiapas, Mexico to see my family and to confirm what I had written to be true. I have an uncle who is in his 80's. I went to see him and his wife in Chiapas. When I knocked on his door, the maid let me in because they had heard I was in town. My Uncle was sitting on his chair out on the back patio. I walked up to him and greeted, "Tio (Uncle)!" He turned and looked up at me and became a little startled, and asked, "Romulo?" He thought I was my grandfather. I answered, "No, Tio, it is I, Arturo." He replied, "Arturo! You look just like Romulo now!" They had not seen me for a few years. Then his wife stepped into the room, looked at me and said, "Romulo!" Her husband said, "No, my love, it is Arturo!" I gave a little laugh and they both looked at each other and said, "He even laughs like Romulo!" I think the genes came out in me.

I asked my uncle things about Romulo's life to see if they were the same stories that were handed down to me. He went on to tell me the same stories I was told. He said he was a young boy during that time but knew of the stories because his side of the family told them to him.

There is a letter that Romulo gave to my father dated 1937 telling my father nice things about what he had to do in his life and getting an education. At that time my grandfather was 64 years old and suffering from diabetes for a few years already. He died that year. My father was in boarding school in another town. My father was 16 years old. I have the original letter in Spanish. It is a very poetic letter. My grandfather was a doctor in that small town.

Rodriguez coped as best he could, but his drinking and drug use, in the wrong place at the wrong times led to his incarceration in California's prison system for young offenders. Against all odds, he put his past behind him, married and had a family, and worked hard to overcome injustices and start a successful business. After his retirement Rodriguez began writing about his life and his family. This book is sequel to East Side Dreams (Dream House, 2001, published in Spanish as Sue�os del Lado Este. In this second autobiographical book, he writes about childhood pranks and misdeeds, his mother's near fatal illness, his parent's divorce, the birth of his first child, and how his parents even eventually became friends.
The writing here is unpolished but sincere in true, and the reminiscences and descriptions are vivid and true to life. Neither how he grew to understand his father and other relatives whom he loved despite their flaws. His message for young readers is clear. It is possible to survived and overcome injustices and hardships.
