For academics only

Pretty good summary of the academic literature on corporate level strategy up until around 2006. Sadly, it is the typical European academic synthesizing mostly American research. Such is the division of labour between Europe and the US. The book is heavy on boxes and arrows diagrams and weak on actual companies. This is a book for academics only and it is not at all bad. However, academics should read the original sources instead so I cannot give more than two stars. Practitioners cannot gain much relevant knowledge from this book. If you ask, I have better suggestions.

Great info - Lacking an index

This book is a great top-line summary of all four ASHRAE books, approximate ventilation standards, and I am constantly using the first few pages of equations and conversions. The rules of thumb are well thought out and the design standards are excellent thought provokers for design - a great book for an HVAC specialist - or in my case, someone preparing for the Mechanical PE Exam, HVAC focus (again - the equation section was extremely helpful!)

My biggest complaint about this book is that it lacks a solid index. If you are looking for a topic, you must flip through the table of contents and hopefully find what you want - that's the primary reason I can't give it a higher rating! This book won't displace your ASHRAE books...you'll still need them for sure, but it can certainly be a great supplement and "quick" reference book for sure!

I have been designng HVAC systems for over 35 years, during that time i have accumlated much in the way of reference materials, formulas, etc. Now I discover this book and wish it had been there with me at the start. If you're in the early days of your career, this is the one book you should get. It is extremely well organized and will save you lots of time sizing and specifying materials and equipment.

Excellent book touches on many conditions and situations and covers both A/C and Refrigeration complete with codes. Highly suggest this book on the shelf for any company or engineering dept as it is a wealth of information in a rather small book that can easily be put in employees trucks. "When in doubt search it out". Dave HVAC/R tech.

Not HG101's Best Showing

I have purchased all of HG101's books, read them and enjoyed them, even the massive Classic Graphic Adventures book. The level of detail is very nice every time.

That's kind of the problem with the 200 Best Games book. It isn't there. From my reading, I suspect it's because the HG101 team tried to cram in 400 games into the book (200 regular, 200 see alsos) and because of that, lost a lot of room to really dive in. The book suffers from that lack of detail.

My other issue with the book are the game choices. While I understand lists like this are completely subjective, there are a great many games that would not make the vast majority of Best Of lists. Barkley Shut Up and Jam: Gaiden? Crash Bandicoot 3? Blood? Best of ALL TIME? These are somehow better than Tetris, which is not mentioned even in the runner ups? Don't get me wrong - there is not a bad game on the list, but the case to why some of these have been included is shaky at best. Also, a lot of choices seem picked just to be contrarian to the norm - Majora's Mask over Ocarina of Time? Really? Super Mario Galaxy 2's reasoning over the first Galaxy was "It has Yoshi". I come to expect better analysis than that from HG101.

I'll continue to purchase HG101's books in the future, definitely, however any offerings like this one (more subjective than objective), I will probably steer clear of.

Good book, print version is so-so.

It's nice to be able to open this book and browse through classic game favorites. It was not quite what I had expected -- check the dimensions before purchasing. It is smaller than I expected for the price, and printed on lower quality stock, though the printing itself is colorful.

He studied art in London, followed by a career working in Europe and South America before settling in the United States where he opened a design agency in Miami. Hands down the best card stock I've ever got my hands on!! The art work is breathtaking and you really need to hold the cards in your hands to see the image fully because the semi mat finish gives the image the perfect platform. The cards are the PERFECT size. Bigger than "standard" cards but not a huge size you can't work with. BUT!!!!!! The book that comes with this can not be left out in this comment. I have books and books on tarot and astrology. This little book explains so much in a understanding way..... And it doesn't go on and on, they way some books do. The writer and the artist did amazing plus got them printed with the best quality cards I've came acrossed. If you have Legacy of the divine get these! Everything about these are better. They did a great job from the cards & Art... And the book! :)

The Tarot of Dreams is Absolutely Dreamy

Tarot of Dreams by Ciro Marchetti is one of my all-time favorite decks. Previously available only as a self-published edition by the artist, Tarot of Dreams is at long last available for the mass market. I am very happy to see this deck receiving the exposure it so richly deserves.

Published by US Games, Inc., Tarot of Dreams is housed in a very sturdy lidded box measuring 5 �” x 6 �” x 1 �”. The box has a smooth matte finish and depicts isolated elements of five card images along the edges, five full card images on the back of the box, four partial card images, and a photo of the cover of the guidebook that showcases the Knight of Wands. The cover of the box is graced with the gorgeous image from the Ace of Swords card.

Within the box the guidebook rests on top of the cards that are divided into two stacks that fit smugly (but not tight) within the box. The two stacks of cards rest against each other. There is no divider to keep them separate. I recommend storing the deck in a horizontal position in order to prevent the cards from sliding into one another and shifting within the box. My copy did arrive with both The Fool and Magician cards slightly dinged, which probably occurred due to shifting during shipping. The cards have a matte look to them, but the finish is a semi-gloss. They are not exactly slippery as are many other decks, but my copy has been shifting on me so I now make sure to store it horizontally so card shift does not occur. For those of you who are like myself and are a stickler for keeping your decks as pristine as possible, you will most likely wish to do the same.

The Tarot of Dreams guidebook is written by Lee Burnsten who has written companion books for The Gay Tarot, Universal Marseilles Tarot Companion, and The Zodiac Tarot. The guidebook measures 5 �” x 6 �” and contains 112 pages, including two pages for notes. The guidebook is organized into eight sections:

Introduction
Esoteric Symbol Systems in the Tarot of Dreams
Introduction to the Major Arcana
The Major Arcana
Introduction to the Minor Arcana
The Minor Arcana
Reading the Cards
The Story Spread

The Story Spread is the only card spread described within the guidebook. It consists of nine cards and for those of you familiar with the Lenormand Square of 9 spread, the Story Spread is arranged in a similar manner.

Symbolic inclusion from the Kabbalah and Astrology is located in the upper corners of each card. These attributions of symbols to the cards follow the standard established by the Order of the Golden Dawn with the exception of the addition of the three planets discovered in modern times: Neptune, Uranus, and Pluto. Symbolic representation of these three plants is also included in lieu of the Golden Dawn’s use of elemental symbols.

For the minor arcana the Decan system of the Golden Dawn is retained. Pages are assigned the three zodiac signs that correspond to their particular suit. The knights, queens, and kings are assigned zodiac signs following the Golden Dawn’s associations, meaning that each card is designated as representing two-thirds of one sign and one-third of another. The astrological association for each card is described in the guidebook.

Although references to the Kaballah are sprinkled liberally throughout the text of the guidebook and symbolic representation of the seriphoth appear along card borders no mention of the Tree of Life card is made. There is no meaning or interpretation ascribed to it. I realize it was included in order to provide a visual aid in order to illustrate the correspondences between the Tree of Life & cards of the major arcana. It also serves as an excellent aid in meditation if one decided to use it in that manner, but due to its lack of an interpretation I recommend removing the Tree of Life card from the deck prior to a reading.

The major arcana is discussed as the Fool’s Journey. Card interpretations consist of keywords and brief phrases followed by a lengthy discussion of the imagery and symbolism contained on each card. The card interpretations conclude with a mention of the corresponding Hebrew letter and its meaning in brief, plus the planetary association of the card. The minor arcana are fully illustrated throughout with imagery that lends itself well to first-time Tarot readers. There is an extra set of court cards entitled “Palace.” The Palace cards provide an environment for the court cards as well as for the characteristics of their particular suit.

I recommend this deck to both beginning and advanced Tarot readers. The imagery is lovely throughout and due to the presence of black border on all the cards the colors have an additional vibrancy.

If you are a fan of Ciro Marchetti you will know that The Tarot of Dreams has been self-published by the artist several times. The self-published editions are prized and are strictly for my own personal use. I have all previous versions of the deck and am happy to now have a mass-produced and less expensive edition that I can use with clients. My clients really enjoy the imagery and find it easy to comprehend even if they have no experience reading tarot. The Tarot of Dreams is very user-friendly.

"Casual duplicity picks at the threads of our social fabric," Keyes warns, and not just because it creates a greater tendency toward suspicion and mistrust. The consequences of letting people get away with lying can be severe: when somebody gets a job based on a bogus r�sum�, for example, he or she deprives those applicants who didn't falsify their work credentials. Keyes deplores what he dubs an "alt.ethics" that has made lying more acceptable, and he points to a variety of contributing factors in society, from postmodernism's denial of a literal truth to the ease of making unverified statements online. This largely anecdotal broadside essentially replays David Callahan's The Cheating Culture, though with fresher stories that address recent incidents like the Martha Stewart trial and the controversies surrounding several authors and journalists who have blurred fiction and nonfiction or simply fabricated their stories. Keyes takes a relatively nonpartisan approach; he criticizes Bill Clinton and Al Gore for their false statements, but attacks George W. Bush as the "quintessential baby boomer," accusing the president, and an entire generation, of a self-righteous refusal to confront, let alone speak, the truth. He doesn't offer much of a solution beyond a reaffirmation that lying is wrong and we shouldn't do it, advice that will surprise no one but may get some additional airplay in this heated election cycle.

No one tells the truth

And that's the truth! It turns out kids lie by the age of four, and earnestly. I mean they are so convincing, you almost believe them faster and more than when former President Bush said " Mission Accomplished" and you and 100 Million other Americans thought he meant the War in Iraq ( he meant the Afghanistan Oil line ) any way, its a very good read about how no one tells the truth. So if you want that truth, read this book.

Required Reading For All Americans

This well-researched and cogently written expose should be required reading for all Americans. Mr. Keyes utilizes both anecdotal evidence, and to the extent it is available, statistics and other evidence, to demonstrate that "truth" is a rapidly vanishing value in our current society. He then explains that the ramifications of this value decline are significant; the ability to be able to "presume" honesty is at the core of our relationships, both personal, financial, and professional.

Indeed, dishonesty is our society is so prevelant that the truth-teller is currently at a distinct disadvantage. The witness is a judicial proceeding who tells the truth without embellishment will be discounted, as judges and juries presume that the witness, like all those before them, has exagerrated. Similarly, the job applicant who does not fudge will be rejected, as fudging is now presumed.

Despite its weighty subject, Mr. Keyes' writing style is engaging. Moreover, the validity of Mr. Keyes' points are reinforced by everyday life. I highly recommend this book.

this a thorough manual for all flight simulator enthusiasts, price is a little steep, but well woth it for all software 737s such as pmdg,pilot in command ect...i rec this book to anyone who flies a simulator and wishews for the most realistic enjoyment.
