Don't buy. No test prep to study or software

Don't buy it. No software that is supposedly included, the first 20 pages are only information about an ATC career and the hiring process - all info that can be found online. The next 20 pages are a diary about someone's ATC Academy experience. Then there's a practice test with an answer key and a glossary. What is there to study??? I learned nothing about ATC and don't see how this is test prep. Buy an ATC textbook or something else instead to learn more.

About the Author
In addition to the author's military activities as reported in this book his primary occupation was as an educator. Upon the receipt of his bachelor's degree, he worked for the Milwaukee Public School System. He taught fi rst at North Division Junior and Senior High School as an English and social studies teacher. He then transferred to Kosciusko Middle School where he developed a program in remedial reading. During this time he completed a master's degree. He then embarked on the pursuit of a PhD at the University of Wisconsin in its Department of Educational Psychology. Following his completion of his PhD degree, he taught at the State University at Oshkosh, Wisconsin, Indiana State University, and Marquette University in the City of Milwaukee. While at Indiana he accepted a one year post-doctoral fellowship at the Wisconsin Research and Development Center, Madison, Wisconsin. His publications consisted of twenty-one articles, eleven monographs, one book, one chapter in a book, one book review, and one abstract. At Marquette University he directed fi fty-seven dissertations and twenty-one master essays. He was also active as a board member at Marquette's Center for Equal Employment Opportunities sponsor by The Law Enforcement Assistances Administration of The United States Justice Department. Lastly, he received grants from the United States Department of Education in an amount of about one half million dollars.

Loved the novel and cannot wait for the third!!

I loved Marc Edelheit's second novel, I cannot wait for the third installment. The plot kept me wholly engaged and in suspense in relation to the twists that developed through to the excellent world building. The nature of the story was told from someone who knows their Roman History. My only complaint is that the book wasn't longer as I became completely engrossed in the story. Hoping that the next novel is not long in coming.

The second novel in the series is as good as the first. As Stiger's world unfolds it becomes more intriguing. The set piece battle scenes are written really well. I cannot wait for book 3.

If you like Stories about the Roman legions mixed with a bit of fantasy, you will love these books.

Well Worth Waiting For

I have been impatiently waiting for this book for some time as I loved the first one. My only complaint is that this one ended too soon and leaves me impatiently waiting once again for the next volume. This book does not disappoint and is exciting to read. We have plenty of Roman Legion style military action, intrigue and a bit more of the fantasy storyline than the first volume......but it doesn't come anywhere near overwhelming the rest of the story.

I highly recommend this book. Legions, dwarfs, elves and a wizard or two.... what more could you want? The Tiger is a big winner!!!

Spend a few dollars more and get a better guide

This is a good guide for the beginner. It moves you through learning Access in a logical way. However, if you think you are going to read this book and be able to design a database that works, think again.

Creating a working relational database is not as easy as one might think. If you don't set up your tables and table relationship the right way, queries and forms will not work properly or will not work at all. Although the author discusses building table relationships, it's more about how to mechanically do it in Access rather than the theory behind it. Access has 2 relationship types and the author decides to only teach you how to set up ONE of them. Also, even though the author discusses multivalued fields, he decides that they shouldn't be used and doesn't bother to teach the user how to set one up. He recommends a junction table but never teaches you how to set one one up.

Access has a simple way to create a backup of your database, but for some reason, the author totally ignores this. He also recommends that you do this ridiculously long and complicated way of backing up just one table before making changes when backing up the whole database is much quicker.

As for form design, the author doesn't go into much detail about subforms. Subforms are great...when the work. But, if you didn't set up your relationships correctly (or your tables), subforms will not link properly and won't work. If you try to create a subform using the Forms Wizard and it doesn't work because your relationships are hosed, then what? You have to use the drag and drop method, which the author doesn't even mention.

This is as far as a got in the book. I decided it was better to send this back to the library and start over again with a better Access guide.

I would not recommend this book unless you already have extensive data base ...

If you have database building experience, this book might be helpful. I do not have experience (hence - the "for dummies"). I am computer literate, and do use the other MS programs. That knowledge does not help with database building. I find the program itself very complicate with all it's layers and different views. The book added to the complexity and left me very frustrated trying to comprehend exactly what it was instructing me to do. I would not recommend this book unless you already have extensive data base experience.
